Down the Rabbit Hole – The Kawaii Project, Hair Fair, Wayward Carnival

Hello Bloglings! I absolutely love Alice in Wonderland, as cliche as that may be. The word and logic games are terribly fun and it has such a cute cult culture following. Also, the concept of wonderland seems so terribly relevant to SecondLife itself, where things sometimes only make sense within this sphere.

Down the rabbit hole.

So, this round of the Kawaii Project is Wonderland themed. And one of my favorite items this round is a hair with ears from LCKY. I am actually wearing another hair with the ears in this photo, but the set is really lovely. And the ears! They come with an up and down version, and a pierced and non-pierced version. So many options!

I am wearing a lovely tousled hair from Tableau Vivant, which was released at Hair Fair. Hair Fair ends on the 26th, so get your junk together and hop over there if you haven’t already. Stop by each shop and click on the 10 for a giftie from the merchant.

Hop, hop, hop!    There is also this really cute dress from le fil casse at Kawaii. I like that it is really cute but not too lolita-eque. It is really difficult to find a lovely color tattoo, but antielle does work. I have this one that I found at Kawaii below and I also photograph another one last week for my flickr was was quite lovely. Tea?

Her tower. – The Countdown Room and Uber

She stood at the edge, a great expanse of black water before her. Tiny drips of moonlight sparkled across its surface. Those dark waters always beckoned her. The princess had only known the tower; it’s roughly hewn stone was intended to protect her. But that stone weighed heavily upon her, stifled her. Her death occurred the moment they locked her inside.

This beautiful dress by Junbug is available at The Countdown Room. This round actually ended on May 17th. But I’ll tell you a little secret, just between you and me, you can still go there and get the dress. I just tried. There is a script that tells you it will eject you, but it never does. So, go get this lovely dress because it is breathtaking. The long bell sleeves are perfect. This dress is also available in a pregnant version from The Secret Affair, in case you need that as well.

Uber just opened this week as well and the theme is spice, which mean Indian, apparently. There are so many lovely Indian inspired things to be had. Truth released this beautifully plaited hair.

Legends are lies masking truths.

Fairy tales and legends are often told as stories which present truths or morals of a sort. They provide lessons to be learned, we are told.

The story of Little Red Ridinghood presents interesting morals. It preaches that we should obey our parents. Red is to stay on the path as her grandmother advised. However, it is this oversimplification of moral tenets that is usually problematic. Not only do we want to instill in children (and in people) that you should follow good advice and listen to those who have more experience or knowledge than you in a particular field, but conversely we also want people to follow their own path, create their own destiny, and learn to think independently. It is the strange gray line between these two goals that is difficult to navigate, and the story provides no moral guidance in this difficult gray area.

Not only does the story provide little practical moral advice, but it could actually instill xenophobia. There is a contrast in the story of the safety of the village where Red’s grandmother is or from whence Red comes and the dangers of the forest. We imagine a dark and frightening forest (it is a German tale, afterall). Not only is the dark unknown forest dangerous but so is the stranger to whom Red speaks. Teaching “stranger danger” to children is very common. Although, interestingly enough most of the horrors that children endure are not from strangers but from family, friends, and others in the child’s community.

The oversimplificaiton of moral tenets may actually do more harm than good. It is important to understand that morality/ethics is a complicated field and thinking about our actions and reflecting upon the right decision is much more important than strict adherence to any particular rule–because this is how people actually live and must live ethically in a complicated world.

Luckily for you this tangent and this photo were brought to you by the coinciding of two events serendipitously. The first is this lovely hooded gown by Junbug, which is just as beautiful as everything else that Juno Mantel creates for us. The dress is at Fantasy Faire right now in an RFL vendor, which means part of the proceeds are donated to Relay for Life. Fantasy Faire ends tonight at midnight SLT, so be sure to hop, skip, or dance over there wantonly and show your support for both Juno and RFL before it closes. The other event was my good friend Freddiiee purchasing this Niramyth wolfkin avatar. Now when I have a riding hood dress sitting in my inventory and my friend excitedly comes to me to show me their new werewolf avatar, there is really only one thing a girl like me can do. Take fairy tale photos!

Along with the beautiful gown from Junbug, Muse has lovely flowers adorning her wrist from Naminoke. These flowers are being released tomorrow at the opening of the May round of We Love Roleplay. This is their 2rd year anniversary, which means tons of wonderful things are being released. Don’t forget to stop by this month and wish them a happy anniversary by emptying out your coin purse!

Deetz to follow, bloglings:

Collabor88, Bloglings! You know you can’t resist it…and why should you? Your wallet may be poorer but your fashion sense will be richer (or something like that). Either way,  you’ll get lots of great things and have fun. So, what isn’t to love?

LotD 116

This skin is the new skin from AUX this round, isn’t it just lovely? I added freckles from CheerNo and some lipgloss from Cheap Makeup…but it is just beautiful. This hair is also new from Tableau Vivant…and the jewelry. What I’m trying to tell you is that this round is loaded with goodies, Bloglings.

Three more reasons to go to Colalbor88 (as if you needed them): adorable new skirt, sleek new pants, and these amazing new shoes from Just Design.

LotD 114: Rockabilly Style

LotD 114

Bloglings! I am so excited today because The Arcade starts tomorrow! So don’t forget to go because I have seen so many previews for so many great items and I can’t wait to get them and show them to you.

Today is just a cute outfit that I put together from things mostly already in my inventory.  Except this new BOOM bow around Musey’s neck, which is simply adorable.

LotD 114

Style Notes: I actually purchased the BOOM choker in the color Marshmallow (white) and tinted it red to get it this bright red because the Cherry was too dark to match the shoes and belt. Furthermore, the belt had to be drastically resized in order to fit properly with the dress, just so you know Bloggettes.

P.S. Please forgive my skin not matching on my shoes! I forgot to change my skintone when I put them on. :/ I’m such a lazy bloggette.

Triple Play: Slouchy Satin Tank

I know I’ve been a little absent lately, but I’ve not been feeling terribly well. Also, I have been working on a surprise. It is still in the works, so be patient!. Today, I  have a triple play for you featuring Tee*fy’s slouchy tank which was released at this month’s Collabor88. They’re a great staple, so I purchased all three fat packs, but I’m a hoarder. Don’t judge me!

Triple Play: Slouchy Tank

I draped this pink slouchy tank over a basic erratic longshirt in light pink. Then I paired them with BOOM Miami Linens in nutshell. Seriously, these are some of my favorite pants ever, so versatile. Then I added these Redgrave shoes to all of them because they are amazing and color-changeable. 🙂

Triple Play: Slouchy Tank

Teal! This time a bit more casual with mijn botique’s ombre jeans in black/blue. And another appearance of League’s necklace but in coordinating colors. I love teal!

Triple Play: Slouchy Tank

Spicy red. This tank is called Chili and I paired it with erratic’s leather pants in black. This time cuffing up the wrists with BOOM’s new cuffs from Collabor88 and adding a cross from glow studio.

LotD 90

This lovely feather necklace is fairly new from League at the Frost Fair. Everything else isn’t new, but the Pants from BOOM are some of my favorites and these cropped tank tops from Eater’s Coma are just made so well. They all deserve some extra bloggin’ love.
