The Emergence of Spring. – We Love Roleplay and Collabor88

When her bare feet touch the ground, it thaws. The snow and ice melt away and the earth becomes warm again. When she speaks, the flowers listen. They hear the melodic whispers and sprout forth from the freshly warmed earth, peeking upwards to better hear her ancient words. When she sings the archaic hymns, the birds come back home guided by the soft, strained notes after months of silence and solitude. Eostre has risen, and it is Spring.

The Emergence of Spring.

Hello, bloglings! One of my favorite events just started a new round less than a week ago. Naminoke made these beautiful flowering devil horns for We Love Roleplay. They always make the prettiest, delicate flowery things.

Moon Amore made this really beautiful lace dress that is sheer and may not cover your lady cupcake (in case that is a concern for you) for Collabor88. It comes it both a wind blown version and a regular version, which I love. If you choose to go with the fatpack, you can change the colors of all the pieces.

Curious Sprite.

Also, at We Love Roleplay is this absolutely gorgeous skin by YS&YS. I’m completely enamored with it and the number of options on the HUD. If you are looking for a really pale fantasy skin, this is really perfect. If you zoom in on the image, you can see the fine vein lines on her face on the option that I chose. Seriously. I know Skin Fair is happening, but you need this one, too.

Enchanting

“Then she loved him as she would a manifestation of herself, both silenced and wounded in existence, both everything and nothing to eternity.”

Hello, bloglings. I just wanted to do a simple beautiful post today with these lovely poppy flowers released at Enchantment from Naminoke. They are so strikingly beautiful and I wanted to show them on a clean canvas, so to speak. They also offer a few different head piece versions as well has a hand-held bouquet. You really should stop by Enchantment, if you haven’t already. It ends on the 31st, and it is a beautifully decorated event.

The voyeur. – Collabor88 and Dark Style Fair

She fluttered her wings restlessly as she heaved a sigh, looking down over the edge of the cloud. The flicker birds played around her, swooping and chasing each other. They flashed their tiny flames through the fog of the early morning light. Absentmindedly, she motioned towards them to calm down. But it was a wasted gesture, as flicker birds do not listen, not to fae, not even to gods. Annoyed, another sigh snuck through her lips as her eyes remained on the ground far below.

“Silly humans,” she thought with a giggle. Her laughter tinkled like a wind chime and tickled the bellies of the flicker birds. The birds continued their acrobatics in the air with each other, but with more vigor. She shook her head in disbelief, another round of giggles freeing itself from her belly. “Oh, The stories they tell down there! Do they really believe such things?” With a deft motion of her wrist, she closed the gap in the cloud beneath her, hiding the world below from her view. “Humans really do believe the silliest of things,” she laughed again, at no one in particular. “Science, they call it,” she said with a final shake of her head.

Legends are lies masking truths.

Fairy tales and legends are often told as stories which present truths or morals of a sort. They provide lessons to be learned, we are told.

The story of Little Red Ridinghood presents interesting morals. It preaches that we should obey our parents. Red is to stay on the path as her grandmother advised. However, it is this oversimplification of moral tenets that is usually problematic. Not only do we want to instill in children (and in people) that you should follow good advice and listen to those who have more experience or knowledge than you in a particular field, but conversely we also want people to follow their own path, create their own destiny, and learn to think independently. It is the strange gray line between these two goals that is difficult to navigate, and the story provides no moral guidance in this difficult gray area.

Not only does the story provide little practical moral advice, but it could actually instill xenophobia. There is a contrast in the story of the safety of the village where Red’s grandmother is or from whence Red comes and the dangers of the forest. We imagine a dark and frightening forest (it is a German tale, afterall). Not only is the dark unknown forest dangerous but so is the stranger to whom Red speaks. Teaching “stranger danger” to children is very common. Although, interestingly enough most of the horrors that children endure are not from strangers but from family, friends, and others in the child’s community.

The oversimplificaiton of moral tenets may actually do more harm than good. It is important to understand that morality/ethics is a complicated field and thinking about our actions and reflecting upon the right decision is much more important than strict adherence to any particular rule–because this is how people actually live and must live ethically in a complicated world.

Luckily for you this tangent and this photo were brought to you by the coinciding of two events serendipitously. The first is this lovely hooded gown by Junbug, which is just as beautiful as everything else that Juno Mantel creates for us. The dress is at Fantasy Faire right now in an RFL vendor, which means part of the proceeds are donated to Relay for Life. Fantasy Faire ends tonight at midnight SLT, so be sure to hop, skip, or dance over there wantonly and show your support for both Juno and RFL before it closes. The other event was my good friend Freddiiee purchasing this Niramyth wolfkin avatar. Now when I have a riding hood dress sitting in my inventory and my friend excitedly comes to me to show me their new werewolf avatar, there is really only one thing a girl like me can do. Take fairy tale photos!

Along with the beautiful gown from Junbug, Muse has lovely flowers adorning her wrist from Naminoke. These flowers are being released tomorrow at the opening of the May round of We Love Roleplay. This is their 2rd year anniversary, which means tons of wonderful things are being released. Don’t forget to stop by this month and wish them a happy anniversary by emptying out your coin purse!

Deetz to follow, bloglings:
