The Peacemaker – Anniversary Round of We Love Roleplay!

In a flash of light, the Peacemaker arrived. Her power was forged in a treaty between two lands centuries before. They had long forgotten the treaty and long forgotten her power. It was her burden to enforce the peace treaty which was written after the soil was soaked in the blood of young men who were promised honor and glory. Young men who knew nothing of honor or glory, but knew pain and horror well. It was the peacemaker’s job to ensure that farmer’s fields were not turned into battlefields, that modest homes were not converted into infirmaries, and that young men were not turned into soldiers. Today, her power would be remembered.

We Love Roleplay has opened for a new round. This round is particularly special because it is their 2nd anniversary. There are so many goodies to snatch up. You won’t wont to miss them. Tableau Vivant released this gorgeous hair which is layered with horizontal plaiting on the back. It is really beautiful. And this dress from Moon Amore is absolutely perfect. It reminds me of She-Ra, which is pure awesomeness, bloglings!17089000229_3248a81087_o

Legends are lies masking truths.

Fairy tales and legends are often told as stories which present truths or morals of a sort. They provide lessons to be learned, we are told.

The story of Little Red Ridinghood presents interesting morals. It preaches that we should obey our parents. Red is to stay on the path as her grandmother advised. However, it is this oversimplification of moral tenets that is usually problematic. Not only do we want to instill in children (and in people) that you should follow good advice and listen to those who have more experience or knowledge than you in a particular field, but conversely we also want people to follow their own path, create their own destiny, and learn to think independently. It is the strange gray line between these two goals that is difficult to navigate, and the story provides no moral guidance in this difficult gray area.

Not only does the story provide little practical moral advice, but it could actually instill xenophobia. There is a contrast in the story of the safety of the village where Red’s grandmother is or from whence Red comes and the dangers of the forest. We imagine a dark and frightening forest (it is a German tale, afterall). Not only is the dark unknown forest dangerous but so is the stranger to whom Red speaks. Teaching “stranger danger” to children is very common. Although, interestingly enough most of the horrors that children endure are not from strangers but from family, friends, and others in the child’s community.

The oversimplificaiton of moral tenets may actually do more harm than good. It is important to understand that morality/ethics is a complicated field and thinking about our actions and reflecting upon the right decision is much more important than strict adherence to any particular rule–because this is how people actually live and must live ethically in a complicated world.

Luckily for you this tangent and this photo were brought to you by the coinciding of two events serendipitously. The first is this lovely hooded gown by Junbug, which is just as beautiful as everything else that Juno Mantel creates for us. The dress is at Fantasy Faire right now in an RFL vendor, which means part of the proceeds are donated to Relay for Life. Fantasy Faire ends tonight at midnight SLT, so be sure to hop, skip, or dance over there wantonly and show your support for both Juno and RFL before it closes. The other event was my good friend Freddiiee purchasing this Niramyth wolfkin avatar. Now when I have a riding hood dress sitting in my inventory and my friend excitedly comes to me to show me their new werewolf avatar, there is really only one thing a girl like me can do. Take fairy tale photos!

Along with the beautiful gown from Junbug, Muse has lovely flowers adorning her wrist from Naminoke. These flowers are being released tomorrow at the opening of the May round of We Love Roleplay. This is their 2rd year anniversary, which means tons of wonderful things are being released. Don’t forget to stop by this month and wish them a happy anniversary by emptying out your coin purse!

There are so many nice things at We ♥ RP this round. This Tableau Vivant hair, in particular. You can wear it with or without the butterflies. Also, this outfit by Fawny. It comes with its own top, but I paired it with a top from May’s Soul. The skirt is just lovely and works perfectly for my sea nymph.

I’ve got stories to tell. The most interesting could be yours.

I've got stories to tell.

I’m a little late, bloglings, but We ♥ RP is open! They have some lovely furniture stuffs this round by Zerkalo, aisling, and Ex Machina. The shelves by aisling and Ex Machina are beautifully detailed, and I love the clusters of candles from aisling. They come with different configurations so you can move them around at your whim (and I have many whims!).

Also! The Birdy sim is now open! We’ve waited forever and for our patience we have been given lovely group gifts. If you haven’t heard or you haven’t stopped by their sim, do it now. You may have missed some lovely items from different events and now you can pick them up. I picked up this beautiful top and skirt. I don’t know how I missed them before.

I've got stories to tell.

And, also, if you haven’t heard the new Lelutka sim is opened. Honestly, if you haven’t heard, I’m not sure where you’ve been. But you should come out from under that rock and go to their new sim because they have three lovely mesh heads available which are made to be compatible with the Maitreya body and for which you can buy appliers from Glam Affair! I’m just going to assume I can hear the *whoosh* of the teleport right now as you’re being whisked away to try demos and get your free gifts!

Not a polite suggestion.

Hello bloglings! No21 is now open and Reign has released some new thigh high boots which look amazing.  The Fantasy Collective is also open! New Fantasy Gear is to be had! Axix released this top there and I absolutely love it. 🙂

Not a polite suggestion.

Kenadee Cole is amazing because not only does she release beautiful products but you can wear them with just about any mesh you want. These boots come in 5 rigged mesh sizes, Belleza, Slink, Maitreya, and 2 standard fitted mesh fits. What more could you really ask of her?

Collabor88, Bloglings! You know you can’t resist it…and why should you? Your wallet may be poorer but your fashion sense will be richer (or something like that). Either way,  you’ll get lots of great things and have fun. So, what isn’t to love?

LotD 116

This skin is the new skin from AUX this round, isn’t it just lovely? I added freckles from CheerNo and some lipgloss from Cheap Makeup…but it is just beautiful. This hair is also new from Tableau Vivant…and the jewelry. What I’m trying to tell you is that this round is loaded with goodies, Bloglings.

Three more reasons to go to Colalbor88 (as if you needed them): adorable new skirt, sleek new pants, and these amazing new shoes from Just Design.
